About the artist

Julia Strand is a self taught artist born and raised in Colorado while currently residing in Kentucky with her beloved husband and many pets. She is known for her stunning use of metallic paints that brings a unique depth in all her original pieces by highlighting individual hairs, blades of grass, and reflections in lifelike eyes with expressive realism. Each piece is created with care and passion; often times feeling connected to them as if the canvas holds a real soul that she has the honor of bringing to life. During this process their names will often become known to Julia accompanied by a realism that the viewer becomes beholden to.

One of the best examples of this is of her most acclaimed kind red horse named Ferdinand.

Julia’s inspiration is dominantly fueled by her faith in God the Creator and in the passion she’s been given for animals and nature. Deep meaning has been found in the ancient origin story of Adam and Eve living in God’s unseparated Presence within the Garden of Eden. In this way, she endeavors to capture nature and animals as they might’ve been in an Edenic state: glorious, shimmering, humble and kind, with God’s intention for mankind to tend His beautiful creation: to honor it, to care for it, and to respect all that He has made for us to enjoy.
